In 1974, K.G. Walters Construction was a new start-up, a true mom-n-pop operation, doing jobs in the $20,000 to $500,000 range. By the year 2007, the company was constructing projects in the $500,000 to $38 million range, had amassed numerous industry awards, and was firmly established as a respected player in the construction of water and wastewater treatment plants in California and Nevada. This steady growth is an amazing accomplishment in a business where competitors come and go.
Much of this success can be attributed to the fact that the company has adapted and learned as it has grown. As President Walt Johnson puts it, "This company has grown to understand the importance of good working relations with owners and engineers. Going back 10 years it was more the us-against-them plan of operation. Now we operate under the idea that we need to work harder with the engineers and owners to develop a team approach for a successful project. We have learned how critical it is not to let one problem affect the rest of the project."
K.G. Walters Construction is known today as a fair, safety-conscious, quality contractor dedicated to keeping the best people in the business, from upper management and project superintendents to equipment operators and trades people. Everyone in the company is given the authority and resources they need to meet the company's primary goal: timely completion of the best quality construction. Speaking louder than any words are the facts that K.G. Walters Construction has enjoyed very low employee turnover, and the people and agencies they have worked with invariably express their satisfaction and desire to work with K.G. Walters Construction again. |
